Subsea Training Assessor Course

The Competent Assessor Course is a one and a half day course for those wishing to gain a recognised Competent Assessor Award.The course complies with IMCA guidelines and forms an invaluable base for anyone wishing to proceed to the A1 award. It reflects the 3 key components of competence - knowledge, skills and understanding, combining tutor input for practical activities. Delegates will be assessed on their knowledge of the competencies they will be assessing against in their work role. All attendees will be required to undertake a practical assessment. Post attendance, delegates will be required to forward documentation relating to 3 completed assessments to the Global Marine System Verifier.

The course is aimed at the following:

Organisations

  • Currently working with and / or in the process of introducing competencies.
  • Striving to achieve a consistently applied standard across the business / department.
  • Seeking external recognition of the competency of their employees.

Individuals

  • Who currently undertake the role of Assessor and / or will be doing so in the future.
  • Who want to proceed with Accredited Assessor Awards.
  • Who are keen to develop / confirm their skills and competence as an Assessor as part of their Professional Development.

Pre-Requisites

None, however, familiarity with the Certificate of Competence scheme is useful and forms part of the course work.

The Course comprises the following elements:

  • Pre-Course work.
  • Full, uninterrupted, attendance on the course (mandatory).
  • Successful completion of knowledge of competence assessment (55% pass).
  • Post course competent completion of 3 Assessments across more than one candidate and verified by a Global Marine Systems City and Guilds Qualified Verifier.
Upon successful completion of the course and assessment verification, a “Competent Assessor” Certificate will be awarded.
