ROV Pilot Technician II Introduction Course
The ROV Pilot / Technician II course offered by Global Marine Systems is a three week, IMCA aligned, course which has been designed for new entrants coming into the subsea / ROV industry. The course will give delegates the knowledge and new skills required to work towards achieving Pilot / Technician I status.
Elements of the course
The Pilot / Technician II course comprises the following elements:
- ROV Pilot / Technician Induction (Pilot II) course
- ROV Pilot / Technician (Pilot I) course
- High Voltage safety awareness
- ROV Piloting, both with an ROV (Seaeye Falcon), and a multi scenario simulator
- Practical and operational tasks
- Competence assessments
Pilot / Technician II Induction course entry requirements
Delegates should have a relevant technical background comprising of experience and/or qualifications. Delegates are not required to have previous experience in the offshore or ROV industries, but will apply their existing technical knowledge or skills to this field. The required ‘technical background’ includes, but is not restricted to, experience in any of the following fields – Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical or Hydraulic. Our policy is to ensure that all delegates accepted onto our training courses are suitably qualified for entry into this industry. Students do need to be in good health and have a good level of physical fitness.
This course is delivered at Global Marine Systems training facility, based in Portland, Dorset. Practical and operational training is carried out on actual ROV equipment. Emphasis is placed on the skills required by an ROV Pilot / Technician, including fault finding, maintenance and piloting. Delegates become familiar with ROV equipment and operations through the operation of an ROV at our quay side facility, use of a work class ROV simulator and detailed training on system components such as a fully working ROV together with hydraulic and electrical components.
The course also introduces the delegate to a number of subsea surveillance systems to include; cameras, sonar and cable/pipe trackers.
